Last Wednesday, September 22, we introduced two little angels to our family. Madi Jo was 6 lb 7 oz and Kenzie Kay was 5 lb 13 oz. I started having contractions (strong ones) at 2:30 am Wed. morning. We were at the hospital by 3:45 and the girls were born at 4:41 and 4:42 am. It went crazy fast! I was dilated to 5 cm and 100% effaced when a I arrived. Also, baby A (Madi) was under a little stress because of her amniotic bag was bulging. It wasn't an emergency c-section, but it was urgent, so that was a little scary. Once both girls were born we were elated to hear they were both breathing well and at pretty healthy weights. As we went through the first day, we new the girls could nurse, but they couldn't do it for very long. As a result they started losing weight fast. Also, Madi had some blood work come back that showed a possibility of infection or just from the stress of labor. So for all of you that are wondering, that is the reason the doctors put a stop to visitors as of Thursday midday. Both girls went on IV antibiotics and we stopped nursing and doing bottle feeds with my milk, supplemented with formula. Feedings were challenging and we were thinking the girls would end up in the special care nursery. However, the feedings picked up and both girls stopped losing weight and started gaining!! Thank you Lord! Kenzie's labs all came back great, so she was done with antibiotics on Friday. We were just waiting on Madi's labs to come back clear on Sunday to give us the green light to go home. Again, the Lord answered our prayers and Madi's bloodwork looked great! We came home last night at 10:30 and have been making the adjustment to a family of 5. :) Hannah was very ready for us to be home, but to make matters worse, she wasn't( and still isn't) feeling well. She has a bad cough, so please pray that Hannah gets over it quickly and no one else (especially the twins) don't get sick.
I know a lot of you wanted to visit the hospital, but couldn't, or were just planning on visiting us at home, but the doctors advised us to limit visitors for the first couple of weeks after some of the issues the girls had early on. We'll repost when they feel it's alright to have others around.
Thank you for all of your prayers and support, and please continue to pray for health and a smooth adjustment for us all. :) God bless!!
FIRE UP!!! So happy that you can all be a family at HOME!!! Nothing feels better than to have your whole family together! Love you guys! Please let me know if I can help out in any way with Hannah Bear!
